Before 2002
- Years ago, Chris Boulton, web34rk and b0ndman started developing XMB. After some time, web34rk and b0ndman left the team and Chris became lead developer of a team with two other developers. Over time, staff shifted again and several developers didn't like the way things were heading. Together, they forked XMB and created DevBB. DevBB was the predecessor to MyBB, a temporary solution for people to use whilst MyBB was being developed.
2002
- Around September 2002, MyBB was being developed and the first version of MyBB was released around that time.
2003
MyBB releases in 2003: Beta 4, RC1
- The MyBB team at this time consisted of: Chris Boulton, dine, Kasper, SonicBoom, Thejavaman1, WDZ, and William J as administrators; and Slava and xTodders as Super Moderators.
- Around this time, the group name changed from MindPower Interactive to AvidMotion Technologies.
- An announcement is posted by Chris Boulton on 30 March 2003 regarding MyBB being a free product: Free never tasted so good
- In September 2003, MyBB 1.00 RC1 was released.
2004
MyBB releases in 2004: RC2, RC3, RC4
2005
MyBB releases in 2005: PR2, 1.00, 1.01
- Summer: Cory, DennisTT and k776 joined the MyBB Group as part of the support team. DennisTT and k776 later become developers
- August 30: PR2 was released
- November 24: A new official website was revealed.
- December 9: MyBB 1.00 Gold was released
2006
MyBB releases in 2006: 1.02, 1.03, 1.04, 1.1.0, 1.1.1, 1.1.2, 1.1.3, 1.1.4, 1.1.5, 1.1.6, 1.1.7, 1.1.8, 1.2.0, 1.2.1, 1.2.2
- February 20: decswxaqz (developer), kodaks and Michael S. (both support) join the MyBB Group
- April 25: Ryan Gordon, and Belloman (aka. Justin S) join the MyBB Group's Wiki Team. Ryan G will later become one of the primary developers of MyBB, and Justin also later becomes involved with the design aspects of the MyBB Website and the Admin CP redesign.
- September 2: MyBB 1.2.0 was released. The development team at this time consisted of: Chris Boulton (Development team lead), Ryan Gordon (MyBB Merge Lead), MusicalMidget, DennisTT, and decswxaqz. - November 6: Peter and decswxaqz leave and CraKteR joins the MyBB Group
2007
MyBB releases in 2007: 1.2.3, 1.2.4, 1.2.5, 1.2.6, 1.2.7, 1.2.8, 1.2.9, 1.2.10
- February 18: The MyBB Ideas site launches. The site provides a new and useful interface to gauge interest in specific feature suggestions for MyBB.
- June 22: A new MyBB homepage was revealed featuring Lego people heads in the header symbolizing communities of people.
- July 11: MyBB recruits 4 new team members: destroyer, DrPoodle, MrDoom, and rh1n0
- August 29: Musicalmidget's MyBB Mods site is merged with the official MyBB site and presents a new interface
- October 22: MyBB 1.4 Private Beta begins at the MyBB BetaConnection website.
- November 17: The MyBB Group announces that PHP 4 support will be dropped starting the next major release after 1.4.0 in 2008.
- November 17: The MyBB 1.4 Admin CP is shown to a select group of users for the first time, beginning Admin CP testing.
- December 15: The first release-candidate version of MyBB Merge is released, thanks to Tikitiki's hard work. This tool allows users to convert from other bulletin board softwares, and to merge two MyBB forums into one.
- Christian, Ryan Ashbrook, and CraKteR leave the MyBB Group in 2007.
2008
MyBB releases in 2008: 1.2.11, 1.2.12, 1.2.13, 1.2.14, 1.4.0, 1.4.1, 1.4.2, 1.4.3, 1.4.4
- February 2: The official MyBB Development Blog is launched!
- February 5: The MyBB Merge System 1.0 RC2 is released.
- February 9: The MyBB Admin CP is revealed to the public for the first time, in the first part of a four part series of blog posts.
- February 25: The MyBB Merge System 1.0 RC3 is released.
- March 19: First private beta of MyBB 1.4 is released to beta testers on the BetaConnection website.
- June 20: MyBB recruits 1 new support team member and 4 new developers. MyBB Mentor program is announced.
- June 26: MyBB 1.4 Beta is opened up to all users through a simple application process on the MyBB Community Forums. 610 users end up joining the beta testing group.
- August 3: MyBB 1.4 Released
- August 21: MyBB completed a professional security audit by GulfTech
- November 12: MyBB is re-released under the GNU GPL v3 (Announcement)
2009
